At Beloved, we are on a mission to provide Hope, Help, and Education for Families affected by stage 4 terminal cancer. Our unwavering commitment is to ease the overwhelming burden that cancer places on the lives of both patients and their caregivers, ensuring that cancer does not take everything.

In the face of this formidable adversary, there is often a lack of support available to provide day-to-day living and basic needs for those who are desperately in need during their time of hardship. Beloved Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for Stage 4 cancer patients and their caregivers in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties of Southern California. Our foundation offers a unique combination of financial assistance, supportive counsel, and invaluable resources.
Since our inception in 2009, we have given away over half a million dollars in support to families in the Inland Empire, California, often preventing eviction and improving the quality of life for the patient and caregiver. This milestone reflects a decade of dedicated service to the community.
Cancer imposes an enormous financial burden on patients and their families. This burden, often referred to as "financial toxicity," encompasses various out-of-pocket costs related to treatment and care, which can lead to severe financial distress for many families. Studies have shown that those with metastatic cancer or a history of cancer experience even deeper financial challenges. They are more likely to report being unable to work or having more missed work days than the average individual, amplifying the financial strain.
Financial distress from cancer is reported among 49% of advanced stage cancer patients, and a study by Duke University found that cancer doubled the likelihood of filing for bankruptcy. Beloved Foundation understands these challenges and is committed to providing the necessary support.
Our programs aim to bridge the gap between the temporary distress caused by cancer and the hopeful prospect of a brighter, long-term future. We understand that living with stage 4 cancer can be financially and emotionally challenging. Thanks to advancements in treatment, many metastatic patients are living longer, fuller lives, but the financial costs of treatment and screenings can add up quickly.
Beloved Foundation focuses on two fundamental aspects of support: financial assistance and emotional well-being. We believe that easing financial stress for stage 4 cancer patients and caregivers is key to enhancing overall care and improving the quality of life.
How We Help Patients:
1. Financial Support Grants: Our Family and Patient Assistance Grants provide short-term relief for family members who are unable to work due to their caregiving responsibilities. Beloved Foundation offers financial assistance grants to help with essential needs such as rent and utilities. These grants are made possible through nominations from a network of hospice care nurses and social workers, and our Board of Directors evaluates each situation to determine the amount and duration of support. When a grant is approved, we issue checks directly to landlords, mortgage holders, utility companies, or service providers.
2. Cancer Care Kits: Our Chemo Care Packages are thoughtfully assembled and distributed to individuals per request, oncology centers and cancer resource centers. These packages include items like socks, lip balm, journals, activity books, and personal care items designed to provide comfort and relief during cancer treatment.
3. Caregiver Support Services: We provide assistance to arrange and fund short-term breaks for family members and other unpaid caregivers.
4. Children's Support Group (C.L.I.M.B.): Children aged 6-11 who have a parent or guardian diagnosed with cancer face unique challenges. Our Children's Lives Include Moments Of Bravery (CLIMB) program is a specially designed art and activity-based support group that provides children with the tools and emotional support they need to navigate the immediate and long-term effects of parental cancer. This six-week closed support group focuses on helping children understand cancer, express their feelings and emotions through art, games, and journals, and foster positive communication with their parents.
In addition to our direct support for families, we collaborate with local oncology social workers and Patient Navigators to share information about community resources with their patients. Our programs include Resource Booklets with useful information about local and national resources.
